Obviously the staff of The Republican has a penchant for birds, as the fair creatures are often featured – perhaps too often. But how can anyone deny the striking beauty of a rose-breasted grosbeak, and his rightful place on the front page? This lovely feathered animal is prevalent in Garrett County, which makes all who live on the mountaintop even more fortunate. The grosbeak, the oriole, the indigo bunting – so many beautiful birds are denizens of the treetops in Garrett County. Those who wish to learn more about bird-watching are always welcome to the area's state parks, where bird walks are led regularly.
